Using the site

KnowTheCheese provides general information about cheese. By using the site, you agree to these terms, and you must be at least 13 years old.

Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access, disrupt the site or overload its hosting. Automated requests must respect access restrictions and must not interfere with other readers' access.

The site and its content may change or become unavailable. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that every statement is free of error.

Food and nutrition information

Articles cannot assess your medical needs or the handling of a particular piece of cheese. They do not replace advice from your doctor, midwife, dietitian or local food safety authority.

Check the product's ingredients, allergen information and storage instructions, together with relevant recalls and local health guidance. A product label or an unexpired date does not make food safe after improper handling.

Food can contain harmful microorganisms without looking or smelling spoiled. Do not use appearance, smell or a taste test to establish that food is safe.

Milk allergy and lactose intolerance require different decisions. For pregnancy, allergies or another health condition, use guidance applicable to you and the exact product rather than assuming that a general cheese description settles the question.

Nutrition values may describe a database entry or a named product, not every cheese sold under that name. Check the stated serving basis and your own product's nutrition label.

Reusing content

You may link to site pages, save or print them for personal or classroom use without redistribution, and quote up to 50 words with quotation marks and a visible link to the source article. These permissions apply only to material for which KnowTheCheese can grant permission.

For full articles, translations, complete tables, images or commercial reuse, request permission before republishing. Do not assume that an image can be reused because it appears on this site.
